A research opportunity titled “The Enactment of Social Support Messages by Family
in the Maintenance of Weight” has been posted on the sign-up board in Terrell Hall. 
There are 3 sessions scheduled with space for 75 students each session. Anyone over
age 18 can participate in this study.  Students can attend on Thursday, September 7 at
4:00 or 6:00 PM, or on Monday, September 11, at 4:00 PM. The research opportunity
will last no more than 45 minutes. Contact and additional information is provided on
the sign-up sheet should they have any additional questions, so please direct them there.

A study entitled FAMILY COMMUNICATION ABOUT WEIGHT MANAGEMENT
is available for
students wishing to fulfill the research requirement for SPCM 1010,
SPCM 1100, SPCM 1500, and other
SPCM courses that allow for research participation. 
Students age 18 and older are eligible to complete a
survey assessing how families
communicate about weight management.  Participation should require no more than

45 minutes of your time.  Sign-up sheets are posted on the bulletin board in the
Department of Speech Communication.

The students of SPCM 3700 are conducting a research project on Communication in
Close Relationships. This study is open to anyone currently enrolled in SPCM 1100,
1500, 1010 or any other Speech Communication course that requires or offers research
participation. Participation will involve filling out a questionnaire that asks you about your thoughts
about and experiences with a close friendship or romantic relationship.
In total, participation should take no longer than 45-60 minutes.
There are two study times:
Monday October 16th at noon in B2 (the basement classroom) in the Main Library
And Friday, October 20th at 2:00 in Terrell 214.
Sign sheets are available on the Research Opportunities board in Terrell Hall.
